Arachnoquake trailer or Fuck you, SyFy

Your network has a total of five scripted dramas with one being a remake and the other being supernatural leaving only three original sci fi tv shows on the network (Eureka, Haven, Warehouse 13, Being Human, and Alphas). That is really poor for a network who started out as THE home on television for sci fi shows and movies.

You waste money that could be going towards good, quality sci fi programs, but instead you waste money on things like this. I’m not saying there isn’t a place for B-movies on the network or in general, but when they take away from budget that could be going towards original programming then all I can say is FUCK YOU!

You’re supposed to be the home of science fiction television, but as far as I can see all your interested in is ridiculous B-movies and reality shows which take up the bulk of your programming. You only have two hours of original science fiction programming? What happened to the network that was home to the amazing Battlestar Galactica and saved the Stargate franchise from going off air? Now you’re down to Alphas, Eureka and Warehouse 13 as your only real sci fi shows? Really? Damn, its saddening to be honest. I loved you as a kid, but as an adult I’m fucking disappointed in you.

Here’s what I suggest to you: Take some time off and really refocus yourself. Eliminate the weaker reality shows while keeping the successful ones, and reduce your Original Movies budget. Notice I’m saying to not get rid of them completely- just downsize them because sci fi is not reality tv or all B-Movies. It can be serious, fun, or both.

Take that money your saving by not spending it on those things to invest in creating a new programming schedule that better reflects your origin and name.

I would highly suggest two adapted projects alongside new ones and continuing the ones you have now.

Bring back Stargate with a new show. I know there’s more greatness in this franchise just waiting to be brought back on to air.

Adapt Star Trek: New Frontier book series into the new rebooted Star Trek world as tv show with Peter David’s help. It avoids the areas that would be covered in the films while still being Star Trek and fresh.

See if you can convince LucasArts to put their Star Wars TV show on your network. Kind of doubtful considering the massive popularity of the franchise, but it would be awesome for ratings and a reputation saver.

Bring on more Alphas, Eureka and Warehouse 13- maybe even with new characters if you’re feeling bold.

Ask Joss Whedon, Ronald D. Moore, Damon Lindelof, JJ Abrams, Robert Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Russel T. Davies, Steven Moffat, Jeff Pinkner, J.H Wyman, Robert C. Cooper, Brad Wright, Nick Wauters, Joseph Michael Straczynski, or Chris Carter to make something for you. These guys have proven that they can do amazing sci fi tv, so hire them to make something.

Buy up the rights to air reruns of popular sci fi shows like The X-Files, Fringe, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Stargate, LOST, Farscape, The 4400, Firefly, and others.

And most importantly bring on new original sci fi shows. Well as original within the bounds of narratives as you can get.

Please take my suggestion seriously because I don’t want to hate you. I want to love you, but with shit like Arachnoquake being made I can’t help but want to scream.

BSG: Blood and Chrome will not be a TV series

They are sticking with the original plan of webisodes to follow the 90 minute TV pilot/film.

Is SyFy really sci-fi anymore?

I’m inclined to agree with the sentiment that SyFy doesn’t really do a good job of living up to its name anymore. What do you think? Does SyFy live up to its name right now or does it need new management to bring back the sci fi in SyFy?
